What is Pay Per Click
Here we define what Pay Per Click is or as some people know it as Google Adwords. I mention Google Adwords as they are the most popular known to people and business. There are many other providers of Pay Per Click Services.
Pay Per Click – Introduction
Item 1 Highlighted in Yellow are "Premium" Listings.
Item 2 Highlighter in Yellow are also Pay Per Click listings and the "BID" amount determines for the "click" and the CTR (Click Through Rate) determine the position of the ad.
Item 3 Are ads that are sold by Google Checkout.
Item 4 Is Natural SEO (Search Engine Optimization) results from websites that are hosted on the World Wide Web. There are actually Ten listings here on the First Page.
Pay Per Click has created an explosion in advertising and has been gaining ground on other mediums of advertising. One of the main reasons is because of "Keywords". Here I typed in sony hdtv so now I am targeting a specific brand of HDTV.
This is what makes Pay Per Click so exciting and valuable. In addition with PPC you immediately can see through various testing and tracking techniques immediately if your advertising is working. If you are not generating enough of a ROI – Return on Investment, you can easily change things up.
How can I get Keywords?
The above shows the Google Keyword Tool which can be accessed here. https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal The tool shows how you can type in a keyword and get some additional ideas. In addition you can see the advertiser competition, last months search volume, and the approximate average monthly search volume.
This is what makes keyword research so fun and exciting! I know I know you are saying what is this person talking about?
Well a person or company with a Big Budget can go right after all the keywords with the highest competition and searches and can win if they use effective strategies. The other option is to look for more "longer tail" keywords. A longtail keyword usually consists of "three to six" words. Now that is targeting your searches to the web surfers that you will receive. The POWER that you are truly receiving "intelligent buyers" who are more ready to BUY!
This will help keep your costs down for your clicks and get better conversions for sales. There are many more strategies that will be covered however it is important to first understand the basics.
Visitor Value
You might be asking what is Visitor Value? Well this is an important number to know and you will know it faster in PPC than any other medium like I said. If it costs you $40.00 per conversion of a sale, however you the value of that conversion is only $30.00 you will be losing alot of money.
This is where testing and tracking come in, see it may take 200 clicks to get 1 sale. If you are spending $0.50 a click before you make a sale, you will have spent $100.00. Now you need to determine how much profit you make from that sale.
200 clicks sounds great doesn't it? You would think that you would be making a boatload of sales, however things do not always work out that way. This is why the world of PPC is so exciting. The competition can be fierce so you need to prepare for the battle!
However once you find the right strategies and techniques to be in the battle you can win handily.
