Completing your Joomla Installation

Here is where we fill in some details for our Automatic Installation of our Joomla application.

1. Ensure you are on the right domain where you want to install Joomla. I bring this up as it has been my experience from many people that I have helped, that they work with multiple websites and sometimes access the wrong site.

2. You have Two (2) choices here if you leave it Blank you will be installing Joomla on your Root or Home domain. Usually this is the preferable choice for your main site.

The other choice is to put it in a Directory (Folder) which is what we will be doing here in these tutorials. Here I am naming it "Joomla2".

3. Administrator-username try and make this something very unique that of course you will remember. Many people name this "Administrator" however you should name it something different for yourself. The reason for this is security, if you make it "Administrator" hackers have already broken 50% of the code to enter your website.

4. Password – as it says you are making a password for accessing the Admin area again you want to use something real unique and at least 8 characters. You might want to try something like G7*$j2p-7.

I stress the importance of this so you can keep your website safe.

5. Use an email that you want to receive notifications for any activity on your website that will send you an email.

6. Here you want to use whatever full name you choose "John Smith" as an example. This is important as this will be the name that shows up when you publish content. There are ways to change this however I find it best to take care of it now.

7. Here you can enter your Site Name, again you can change this later however try the best you can to have it correct now. An Example can be "Insurance Rate Reviews"

8. Keep this option checked it will help you understand your Joomla Installation easier. Further tutorials will show you how to delete this "Test Data".

9. Click the "Install Joomla 1.5" button.

Joomla Installation Continued

In this step it will tell us the Database and Username for the Database Table that will hold all of our website content. You want to keep this information secure and not let it get out as again this information can be used by hackers to access your website.

We also have information on where our website will be located so we can access it later.

Click the "Finish Installation" button.

Joomla Installation Completed

This is the last step in our Joomla Installation as it is now complete.

1. Here we can click this this link to go to the Admistrator Panel of our website.

2. Here we can click this link to see our website how it will look to the world!

As you can see we also have an option to send an email to alert who we want about our installation.

You do not need to click the "Back to Joomla 1.5 overview" button as it will just take you back to the screen to continue to install more Joomla applications on your website. You are finished at this point.

Joomla Administrator Login
