Article Uploader
Using the Article Uploader in Semiologic to upload content to your site.
The article uploader is a plugin I prefer rather than the WYSIWYG editor that is available with most Wordpress applications. To me it makes content creation and appearance much better and easier to add.
In addition I know have an additional backup for my content, which I find very valuable.
The other positives I find is that when I re-edit or add to my content it much easier to do off line. This is much easier to do in a real offline editor than the editor that Wordpress provides.
Ensure "Article Uploader" Plugin is Activated
The first step to ensuring you can use the Article Uploader for your website is to go the "Plugins" menu on the Dashboard and ensure that it is activated. Now the Article Uploader Plugin will appear whenever you create a Post or Page.
Create a New Post or Page
Select "Add New" Post in this example.
Add a Title to your new Post
Here we will enter the title: 'Cover' Letter to create our New Post.
Access the Article Uploader feature
By scrolling down the 'Add New" Post or Page you will come across the Article Uploader Plugin feature. Please take the time to read the description of the feature. Basically anytime you use it, it completely replaces the 'Post' with you new uploaded content.
This is ok, this is what we want as we are doing our content creation or editing offline.
Article Uploader selections
Click the box to turn off the Wordpress Rich Text Editor. again you will only know the power of the Article Editor if you ever had problems with the Wordpress editor. You remember those times when the Wordpress editor would not quite work the way you want when you wanted to create content.
Select your file to Upload
1. Select File
2. Choose 'Open'
Save your work
Now that the file is in the Uploader, you will want to Click the 'Save' button. Please remember that the content is not yet 'Published' to your website.
Publish your Post
Go back to the Top of your Add New Post screen. Here you can see the content in the Wordpress Editor. The difference this time is the Rich Text portion of the editor is turned off. You would now hit the 'Publish' button to Publish your content on your website.
View your completed Post
With your Post published you can now visit and look at the presentation of your content. You are done.
